When you export to MP4, does the exported file contain audio before you upload it to YouTube?

Ok so while I'm editing a video I can hear the sound just find but when I either export the video into an MP4 and upload to youtube or just hit the share to youtube button the video on youtube has no audio just the video. I've checked to make sure the audio isn't off on my computers mixer and that the audio on youtube works on other videos. Any help would be appreciated.
