What is On Demand use?

On Demand is a scheduling feature that turns servers on or off in response to user demand. It makes sure servers only switch on when they are needed, and then switches them off again when they are no longer being used, to save development companies, universities and small business a lot of money. This on demand approach saves money by avoiding charges for unused server time, whilst ensuring resources are available when users need them.

CMM automatically monitors workload so that unused or idle servers can be identified and turned off. Utilisation monitoring allows users to define when a server is considered to be idle and exactly how long a server should be allowed to be idle for before it is turned off.

Then, when a user next tries to access an on demand that has been turned off, CMM will restart that server and the user can use it as normal.
